Tens of thousands of spectators turned out for Alameda’s popular 4th of July Parade on Saturday.
Known as one of the longest Independence Day parade routes in the country, the parade spans 3.3 miles and features more than 150 entries and 2,500 participants. The event attracts over 60,000 spectators and showcases floats, marching bands, equestrians, dance groups, antique cars and community organizations.
This year, the Alameda Fire Department is celebrating150 years of service to the community. This year’s Honorary Grand Marshal is U.S. Congresswoman Lateefah Simon.
The parade was founded 51 years ago.
