FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A standing room-only crowd of 13,317 watched the Single-A Fresno Grizzlies blast the Ontario Tower Buzzers 13-4 at Chukchansi Park on the 4th of July.

That attendance figure not only marked the largest Grizzlies crowd of the season – but the 4th-largest in all of Minor League Baseball for 2026.

To illustrate how large the 4th of July crowd is compared to typical attendance: the Grizzlies averaged 2,070 fans at their weekday home games in June. They reported around 5,000 for their weekend home games.

But July 2nd (6,047), July 3rd (9,982) and July 4th brought many more fans to Chukchansi Park for the Independence Day holiday.

“I have a lot of family that’s out here, and we were like ‘Should we buy fireworks? Should we just come see it out here?’ They’ve been talking about how great it is,” said Donald Tostado of Fresno.

Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer announced earlier in the week that fans would be allowed to enter the game for free in the 8th inning to watch the postgame fireworks display.

That only added to the massive crowd Saturday night, a crowd hoping to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a local tradition.
