A jury trial in Oakland County recently concluded with a guilty verdict for a Detroit felon who reportedly killed two men over a dice game in Pontiac nearly two years ago.
Davonte Demetri Franklin, 36, was convicted of two counts of first-degree homicide for the deaths of Tyrone Davis Glenn Jr., 24, of Pontiac and Sidney Ward III, 20, of Highland Park. They were shot to death on Oct. 8, 2024 in an apartment on North Sanford Street near Fiddis Avenue.

Franklin was also found guilty of felon in possession of a firearm and three counts of felony firearm.
As previously reported, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said evidence from the crime scene indicated Franklin tried to muffle the gunshots by using a potato. He reportedly was angry from losing $80 in a dice game.
The trial began June 23 and ended on July 1, with Judge Kwame Rowe presiding. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 3.
