OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – The man accused of killing four people along southbound I-75 last week in Northern Oakland County has been arraigned.
Court records show 27-year-old Charles Dean Pace of Virginia is charged with four counts of second-degree murder and four counts of operating while intoxicated, causing death.
Just after 9 p.m. on July 1, investigators say Pace was under the influence and weaving his Ford F-250 pickup truck in and out of traffic, traveling at speeds of 90 mph.
The crash happened on southbound I-75 near East Holly Road.
Pace is accused of crashing into a disabled Chrysler 300 on the side of the road, killing four people, including two toddlers.
The four people who were killed were:
Tieree Powell, 24.Zakeria Sharon Dodson, 23.Nalani Powell, 3.Karter Powell, 2.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Pace’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.
Pace was arraigned Tuesday morning in Oakland County District Court in Clarkston. He was denied bond.
Pace is scheduled to be in court again on July 14 for a probable cause conference.
