The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Wednesday for the 43rd time in 44 days, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $5.383, its lowest amount since March 11.
The average price has dropped 78.3 cents over the past 44 days, including seven-tenths of a cent Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
It is 4.2 cents less than one week ago and 52.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 83.3 cents more than one year ago and 68.9 cents higher than before the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The Orange County average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent to $5.26, its lowest amount since March 9. It is 3.9 cents less than one week ago and 52.4 cents less than one month ago, but 77.3 cents more than one year ago and 62.4 cents higher since the attack on Iran.
A run of 45 decreases in 47 days to the national average price totaling 77.4 cents ended with an increase of six-tenths of a cent to $3.796. The national average price is 5.1 cents less than one week ago and 36.8 cents lower than one month ago, but 64.7 cents more than one year ago and 81.4 cents higher than before the attack on Iran began.
