Popular actor and musician Dennis Quaid may have a noticeable southern drawl, but the truth is he’s been a long-time California resident.
Like many celebrities impacted by the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, they became just another face in the crowd as they gathered their belongings only to sit in a sea of headlights to get out of dodge, whether it be Malibu, Pacific Palisades, or the Hollywood Hills.
Dennis was kind enough to speak with local news outlet KNBC amidst the chaos, which ultimately went viral on socials as he expressed shock, sorrow and fear of flying embers, saying he was ready to “put a hose on a roof” as if he were channeling his Frequency character in real life.
Seeming disheveled, he swiftly packed his sedan full of valuables — in a trash bag, no less — to evacuate his Brentwood home. Fast forward just over a year and a half, let’s just say don’t expect to see the famous Parent Trap dad in line any time soon, forking over $19 for an Erewhon smoothie.

Per SFGate, Dennis put the kibosh on ever coming back to the “Golden State” — as a resident anyway.
He didn’t mince words either. As many reports have said key reservoirs were empty as residents were forced to battle flames themselves, the Texas-born entertainer stated L.A. “used to be such a great town and the ’90s was nice.” Further adding, “it’s been kind of going downhill and I feel like people pay these taxes for no services is what it gets down to.”
While he did keep one of L.A.’s most sought-after zip codes, he’s actually been living a quiet life in Tennessee with his wife, Laura Savoie, since 2020, though he did endorse former reality TV star Spencer Pratt for L.A. mayor.
Quaid’s 5-bedroom Brentwood mansion is now on the market for a whopping $5.2 million as he says goodbye to L.A. for good. Reflecting on the city, he said he hopes it “comes back,” adding that it “used to be such a fantastic town.”
