OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – Michigan State Police conducted a “targeted speed enforcement detail” along I-75 in the construction zone in Northern Oakland County.
The enforcement was on Wednesday from the M-15 exit to the Oakland Genesee County border in the construction zone with workers present.
According to Michigan State Police, 49 traffic stops were conducted, resulting in 45 citations, 13 warnings and two arrests.
This enforcement comes a week after investigators say 27-year-old Charles Dean Pace was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when he killed four people after crashing into their disabled car.
Pace is charged with four counts of second-degree murder and four counts of operating while intoxicated, causing death.
Michigan State Police also mentioned last month that they will be doing more speed enforcement during the month of July.
In a report, MSP says speed-related crashes increased by more than 4% in 2024 compared to 2023.
