BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a man who was found dead three days after going inside the Kern River on the Fourth of July as 24-year-old Gustavo Angel Orea Lara of Newhall.
The coroner’s report said on July 4, 2026, at around 3:46 p.n., Lara went into the Kern River near Keysville South and went unresponsive.
He was found dead in the river on July 7th.
The report said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
