BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A one-armed driver accused of killing a Bakersfield grandmother in a DUI crash in April 2023 has been sentenced to at least six years in prison, according to Kern County court records.
Karim Reyad was sentenced on Thursday, July 9.

Investigators said Reyad, 18 at the time, drove under the influence near Campus Park Drive and Spring Gate Drive on April 18, 2023. Gayle Sue Price, 66, of Bakersfield, was killed in the collision.

Bakersfield police said two men were in the other vehicle, including Reyad, and both suffered moderate injuries.
Court documents show Reyad had previous run-ins with the law, including misdemeanor cases involving vandalism, taking a vehicle without consent, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Reyad was also arrested earlier in the same week as the fatal collision that killed Gayla Sue Price.
