Man sentenced in deadly shooting in Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights

A Sacramento County judge has sentenced a man who was convicted in a deadly shooting in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood last year.Guadalupe Valencia was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said on Friday. The DA’s office said the killing stemmed from an altercation with the victim, Steve Guy, at the Stop-N-Save Mart on Nov. 21, 2025. After Guy left the store, Valencia remained inside and called his wife to bring him a gun, prosecutors said. He then got into a car with the gun and followed Large.Valencia challenged Large to a gunfight, and fired when the victim produced his own gun, the DA’s office said. Large died from a single gunshot to the torso.
