(KRON) — Eight suspected gang members, who range in ages from 15 to 50, were arrested in connection to an attempted murder in San Jose, as well as an assault in Sunnyvale, police announced Thursday.
A near-fatal beating happened on the night of April 4 outside a business on Seven Trees Boulevard, investigators said. The “gang-related” attack continued even after the victim lost consciousness on the ground, according to police.
“The victim lost consciousness, at which point the suspects continued assaulting him. The victim sustained major life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment,” a San Jose Police Department spokesperson wrote.
SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) detectives later identified Moses Martinez, 19, William Dehoyos, 50, and three juvenile boys as the primary suspects. “The suspects are known gang members,” police said.

Detectives discovered evidence linking the suspects to a separate violent assault that occurred in March in Sunnyvale. Additional suspects were identified as Alexander Illescas, 18, Demetrius Martinez, 21, and a 16-year-old boy. Police said one of the juvenile gang members in the group also brandished a firearm at an apartment complex on The Woods Drive in February.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for all eight suspects and search warrants for their residences. This summer, police found and arrested the eight suspects in San Jose, Mountain View, and Modoc County.

They were booked into jail and juvenile hall for multiple crimes, including gang-related attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery.
