California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber has certified the results of the June 2, 2026, primary election, marking the completion of the state’s vote-counting process.
According to the Secretary of State’s Office, 9,446,461 Californians cast ballots in the election, representing 40.8% of the state’s registered voters.
Vote-by-mail ballots accounted for the vast majority of votes, with 8,423,060 cast by mail, while 1,023,401 voters cast ballots at voting locations.
The 2026 primary drew higher participation than the 2022 primary, when 7.3 million ballots were cast and turnout reached 33.2% of registered voters, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.
State officials said election workers completed the certification after processing and counting every eligible ballot.
“We are pleased to continue California’s commitment to transparency by releasing the Statement of Vote for the June 2, 2026, Primary Election,” Weber said in a statement.
Weber encouraged eligible Californians to register, learn about candidates and ballot measures, and participate in the Nov. 3 general election.
