A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck in Mendocino County on Friday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake hit at 6:14 p.m. about nearly seven miles north of Covelo. It had a depth of 6.7 miles. A caller to KCRA 3 reported seeing objects shaking in their hotel room during the quake. Light shaking was reported in the area, according to a USGS map.Two quakes hit in the same area earlier on Friday. A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck around 3:05.
