BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The owner of a massage parlor in Bakersfield was arrested Friday for allegedly having employees engage in prostitution at the business, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Investigation began in June after BPD received community tips regarding alleged prostitution at a local massage parlor. Police also contacted patrons who admitted paying for “sexual favors,” officials said.

On July 7, detectives served a search warrant at Dream Massage at 7800 Meany Ave., as well as a home in the 2100 block of Wedgemont Place, according to BPD.

Through the searches, police reportedly found evidence consistent with prostitution activity and over $17,000 in cash.

One employee at the business was arrested for prostitution and was released with a citation, according to police.

Yan Lahn, 50, was the owner of Dream Massage. According to BPD, Lahn housed some of her employees inside the business and gave them items to “further their illicit acts.”

Officials said Lahn was also collecting a portion of the money received for sexual acts.

On July 10, Lahn was taken into custody and booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of pandering and maintaining a house of prostitution, according to BPD.

“The commercial sex trade is fueled by human trafficking, and unlawful sex buyers are
helping to perpetuate a vicious cycle of victimization,” BPD said in a press release Friday.

“The Bakersfield Police Department is committed to seeking justice for victims, holding offenders accountable, and enhancing the quality of life all who live in, work in, and visit the City of Bakersfield. We will continue our collaborative efforts to eradicate human trafficking and the illegal sex trade in our city.”
