A math teacher at a San Jose high school has been named one of California’s top educators for 2026.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced that Chrizia Dela Rosa, a math teacher at Piedmont Hills High School in San Jose, was selected as one of five California Teachers of the Year.
Dela Rosa, who teaches in the East Side Union High School District, has been an educator for 14 years, including seven years with the district. She was previously honored as the ESUHSD Teacher of the Year at the Santa Clara County Office of Education’s annual Teacher Recognition Celebration on Oct. 27.
“Congratulations to Chrizia,” Dr. David Toston, Santa Clara County Superintendent, said in a statement released Monday by the county’s Office of Education. “She is an exceptional educator who exemplifies how to engage students in learning. Santa Clara County is proud of you and all you have done. We look forward to seeing you represent our state in education.”
