Two North Bay nonprofits focused on combating housing discrimination under the federal Fair Housing Act are moving to merge following recent approval from their boards, with a goal of enhancing existing services in Napa County and improving long-term sustainability.
Both organizations — Fair Housing Napa Valley in Napa County and Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California in Marin County — focus on providing a range of services intended to give people equal access to housing and eliminate discrimination. That includes investigations, legal advocacy, housing stability efforts, education and more.
Fair Housing Napa Valley announced the intent to merge in a July 2 news release, saying “the merger reflects both organizations’ belief that combining their complementary strengths will create a more resilient organization with greater capacity to meet the evolving housing needs of Napa County residents.”
“We are united in our vision that Napa County residents will benefit from greater organizational capacity, broader legal advocacy services, and deeper investment in local partnerships, education, and community outreach,” Julia Howard-Gibbon, co-executive director and legal director of Fair Housing Advocates, said in the news release.
