BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department said the department has seen an “alarming rise” in serious injury and fatal traffic crashes.
Bakersfield police said in June alone, there were nine fatal traffic crashes, bringing the total to 25 fatal traffic collisions so far this year.
“In response, our Traffic Unit conducted targeted enforcement operations in areas identified through crash data and a high volume of traffic violations,” said in a social media post.
Over the course of two days, officers issued 114 citations.
The department is reminding drivers to please slow down, stay alert, watch for pedestrians, and always keep your eyes on the road.
