BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Panorama Drive as 83-year-old Larry Bernard Tombow of Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on July 9th, 2026, at around 9:18 pm, officers responded to the 1100 block of Panorama Drive regarding a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian down in the roadway suffering from severe injuries. Medical aid arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The pedestrian was later identified as Tombow.
Police said the driver of the involved vehicle, identified as a woman, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The preliminary investigation found that the driver of the involved vehicle was travelling west on Panorama Drive when she hit Tombow, who was in the roadway and not in a crosswalk, according to police.
