BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — All classes at Bakersfield College are reportedly closed on Tuesday night while a vegetation fire is being extinguished on Alfred Harrel Highway, according to a text message received from a BC student.
The text was sent just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to a student who signed up for campus alerts.

The brush fire was reported around 4:48 p.m in the area of Alfred Harrel Highway near Fairfax Road.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
Classes are set to resume on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, according to a text from Bakersfield College.
