OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — The Oakland Police Department shot and killed an armed and dangerous suspect in the area of 40th Avenue and International Boulevard on Monday afternoon, KRON4 has confirmed. Oakland PD described the incident as a “critical incident.”
Police sources tell KRON4 that two police officers shot and killed the suspect. At a media briefing, Oakland Police Chief James Beere said the incident began with a CHP pursuit of the armed and dangerous suspect.

The CHP requested backup from the Oakland Police Department and OPD officers located the suspect. After officers attempted to deescalate, Chief Beere said the suspect “attacked” them.
In response to the threat, two officers discharged lethal and non-lethal munitions. The suspect who was struck. Officers attempted first aid, but the suspect succumbed to his injuries.
Weapons were recovered at the location, police said.
No officers or bystanders were injured in the incident, which took place just after 2 p.m.
In accordance with OPD policy, the two officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave, police said. The incident is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
