BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Mariscos Las Islitas restaurant posted surveillance video on social media of a person allegedly trying to set their southeast Bakersfield restaurant on fire.
The surveillance video was time-stamped early Wednesday morning at around 1:30 a.m. on July 15.
The video starts off with a stack of highchairs pushed down and an object, lit on fire, thrown inside. Another object was also thrown inside.
“Thankfully, the damage was limited, no one was hurt, and we are still OPEN while repairs are being made,” said in the social media post.
The post furthermore said, “For almost 30 years, our family has had the privilege of serving this amazing community. We’re not sharing this to ask for donations. We’re sharing it because this restaurant means everything to our family, and we know it means something to many of you as well.”
The restaurant said they extend their sincere gratitude to the Kern County Fire Department for their quick response.
Mariscos Las Islitas is located in southwest Bakersfield at 1601 Panama Lane, near South H Street.
