Following the announced sale of the KBAY-FM (94.5) San Jose signal to K-Love Inc. for $2 million, Connoisseur Media is moving the “K-Bay Country” brand up the dial to 98.5.
“Big news, Bay Country 94.5 is moving to 98.5 FM starting Wednesday, 7/22 at Noon,” the station posted on Facebook. “Save your preset to 98.5 San Jose or 92.1 East Bay & take Bay Country with you anywhere by downloading the Bay Country app.”
The signal is currently home to classic rock “98.5 K-Fox” KUFX, which is alerting listeners to its move to 98.5 HD2 and KMVQ-HD3 (99.7), also effective July 22 at 12pm PT. “K-Bay Country” currently airs on KBAY-FM and KKDV Walnut Creek, CA (92.1).
KUFX was picked up as part of Connoisseur Media’s $10 million purchase of Bonneville’s San Francisco cluster – AC KOIT (96.5), urban AC KBLX (102.9), and CHR “99.7 Now” KMVQ, which gave the Jeff Warshaw-led company a major presence in market No. 6.
Connoisseur also owns hot AC “Mix 106.5” KEZR in San Jose, along with AC KUIC (95.3) and AC KKIQ (101.7) in the East Bay, giving it a strong foothold in Northern California.
The K-Love deal, which is subject to FCC approval, is expected to close in early fall. Once completed, the company plans to use the signal to expand its Christian radio presence in the San Jose market.
