Taco Bell has removed potentially impacted lettuce from one of its suppliers in select states. The move comes as the Centers for Disease Control announced Thursday that the recent cyclospora outbreak has been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants in five states.
The Irvine-based chain is removing the ingredient from its nationwide supply chain indefinitely and will replace the affected lettuce within 24 hours, based on the company’s conversations with public health officials.
“We believe public health is a shared responsibility among restaurants, their suppliers, and authorities, and we are proud to have consistently acted quickly and proactively to protect our guests,” Taco Bell said in a statement.
