FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A promotional video for the upcoming State of the County address has generated a buzz around Fresno County.

The promo for the September 24th luncheon features Supervisor Garry Bredefeld in an action movie style film riding in a boat, an armored vehicle while holding a rifle, a sheriff’s office offroad vehicle, an airplane, a helicopter and firing a automatic weapon. At the end of the video he says, ‘Have a nice day,” and turns a paper target to show a bullet pattern in the shape of a smiley face.

Supervisor Bredefeld also included the following message with the video:

Can’t wait to present State of the County address on September 24, 2026. It will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen. This video is a sneak peek of what I mean. You won’t want to miss it. The full length trailer will be played at State of the County. “Building a Safer, Stronger Fresno County” and highlighting our incredible law enforcement!

Follow the release of the video, Scott Miller, President & CEO of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, released the following statement:

A number of members have reached out with concerns about the recent promotional video for the upcoming State of the County event.

As a bipartisan organization established in 1885, it has been our honor for many years to host many public events on behalf of the local business community-including the annual State of the County luncheon. This event is never intended to be political. The goal of the event is to honor the work of local government and to highlight individals including first responders, long-serving county workers, and others who go above and beyond the requirements of their job to serve the community. Each year, the keynote speech and specific messaging are delivered by the chair of the Board of Supervisors, a position that rotates annually.

Traditionally, a series of videos is produced as part of the event. Our role does not typically involve Chamber staff members directly in the production or content of these videos, but they are paid for through sponsorships of the event.

The recent promotional video is a small part of what will be presented on the day of the event, and does not represent any support or opposition to any elected official or position taken by the Board of Supervisors.

For over 140 years, we have done our very best to be everyone’s Chamber of Commerce, and to be a respectful place to provide a forum for all points on our local political spectrum. It is an honor to serve in this role.

Respectfully,

Scott Miller
