Flights impacted as fire burns near Sacramento International Airport

A fire burning near the Sacramento International Airport is altering flight plans, officials said. The Sacramento Fire Department said the fire began at West Elverta Road and Garden Highway. The fire is at a moderate rate of spread and has burned five or six acres so far, but it has not threatened structures, officials said. According to SMF, the airport’s west ramp is not currently in use due to the fire. Takeoffs and landings are all taking place on the eastside ramps.
