Firefighters successfully extinguished a structure fire overnight in downtown Los Angeles.
Crews were called to the 1200 block of South Hope Street just after 1 a.m. Saturday for a fire burning on the first and second floors of a building. Firefighters initially tried to battle the flames from inside the building, but due to the dangerous conditions, were forced back outside and tried to protect nearby buildings.
After roughly an hour responding to the flames, crews were able to successfully knock it down.
Video from the scene showed at least a dozen firefighters quickly responding to the fire. No injuries were reported in connection with the effort.
It’s unclear what kind of building was on fire. The cause of the flames remains under investigation.
