A fifth takeover in Watts early Sunday morning ended in a shooting nearby, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The gunfire erupted near the takeover, which was said to have been taking place at the intersection of Compton Avenue and Imperial Highway, around 5:16 a.m.
Per the LAPD, the victim is a 35-year-old Hispanic man who was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Officials were unable to confirm whether he was homeless or whether the shooting was gang-related.
It was not clear whether any arrests were made in relation to the shooting — or any of the other street takeovers.
