(FOX40.COM) — Despite the summer’s skyrocketing temperatures, it’s going to be raining cats and dogs at Sacramento PetSmart stores in late July.

PetSmart’s National Adoption Week kicks off July 20-26, and the pet superstore chain is partnering with local non-profit charities nationwide through adoption events and donation drives. So whether you’re looking for a furever friend or just want to help local charities, this may be the purrfect week to make a difference.

FOX40 spoke with Sacramento PetSmart stores and created a list of where guests can find animals and donation drives throughout the week-long event. Visit your local PetSmart store, or dedicate a day to checking out all the cats and dogs Sacramento locations have to offer.

Florin

The Florin location is partnering with Cats of All Colors, a Lodi-based non-profit cat rescue. This organization runs entirely on volunteer work. “We do this because it’s our passion,” the rescue explains simply but sweetly on their social media page.

The Florin PetSmart is located at 6081 Florin Road in Sacramento. Their regular hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Natomas

The Natomas PetSmart is partnering with Cats About Town Society, a Sacramento non-profit shelter that offers cats for adoption and fostering. Their mission is “to stop the suffering of homeless and abandoned cats and kittens,” according to the rescue’s website.

The Natomas PetSmart is located at 3641 Truxel Road in Sacramento. Their regular hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Arden-Arcade

Front Street Animal Shelter, a City of Sacramento shelter location, is sending its cats to the Arden-Arcade location for the adoption week.

The Arden-Arcade PetSmart is located at 1738 Watt Ave. in Sacramento. Their regular hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Freeport

The Freeport PetSmart will have dogs and cats available from two non-profit organizations, CATalyst TNR and Peachy Day Farms Rescue.

CATalyst TNR traps, neuters and releases stray cats to control feral populations. They offer some strays for adoption who are “ready to leave the street life behind,” according to their website.

Peachy Day Farms Rescue is a non-profit based in Herald whose mission statement is to “rescue animals that have been abandoned, neglected, abused or forgotten and give them a second chance at finding a loving forever home and a better life they deserve.”

This PetSmart is located at 8226 Delta Shores Circle South in Sacramento. Their regular hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Other Events

Don’t worry if there’s no time to visit adoptable dogs and cats in July. PetSmart hosts four adoption weeks each year, so there’s always a chance to stop by in the future, staff from the Natomas location said.

“Give a pet in need the loving home they deserve,” PetSmart said regarding people considering adopting an animal. “Meet your new bestie at PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week.”
