(FOX40.COM) — Each time film director Christopher Nolan offers one of his big-budget projects on IMAX film, the same supply-and-demand issue rears its ugly head. Fans want to see the movie in all its 70mm glory, but few cinemas offer IMAX theaters.
For Nolan’s most recent film in particular, the high-definition format is a major draw. “The Odyssey” is shot entirely using IMAX cameras — a first in film history. So cinephiles and casual viewers alike are flocking to a theater near them with an IMAX projector. Although for some, the journey is akin to Odysseus’s trek across the sea after the Trojan war.
But Homer and Nolan fans in Sacramento can rest easy. One of the 25 theaters nationwide that offer the film is located in Sacramento, according to the IMAX website.
The Sacramento theater showing “The Odyssey” in 70mm IMAX format is the Esquire IMAX Theatre.
