LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas sports-betting integrity probe tied to suspicious wagers on a Fresno State player has led to the arrest of a DraftKings trader and former team staffer, according to a newly released report.
Samuel Silverman was arrested on May 5 in Las Vegas after Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) agents say an NCAA integrity tip about suspicious sports betting.
According to an arrest report, regulators were alerted to unusual “Under” prop and same-game parlay wagers tied to Fresno State player Mykell Robinson during a game against Colorado State on Jan. 7, 2025.
Investigators initially identified Matthew J. Martin as the person who placed the wagers through BetMGM, with records citing about $15,950 in profit.

NGCB reports say the investigation later connected Martin to Silverman through personal and work ties. The NCAA also provided NGCB an internal investigative report sent out in October 2025 outlining allegations that Robinson deliberately played to stay under specific stat lines so others could profit.
The NCAA report further states that Silverman, identified as a DraftKings sports trader and former Fresno State men’s basketball team manager, and Steven Vasquez placed $1,200 in wagers that would pay $8,700.
In a statement, a spokesperson with DraftKings confirmed those involved were no longer with the company and that the allege activity did not occurred on their platform.
“DraftKings takes the integrity of sports and sports betting with the utmost seriousness. The alleged activity at issue did not occur on DraftKings’ platform, and the individuals involved are no longer employed by the company. We strongly condemn the alleged conduct of these former employees and remain committed to protecting the integrity of sports and sports betting.”
Silverman was booked on charges including fraudulent acts at a gaming establishment, attempt/conspiracy to cheat at gambling, and conspiracy to launder money, court records show.
He posted bail and is due back in court on August 4.
