The Curtis Theatre is set to celebrate the return of the Page to Stage Playwrights Festival, now in its seventh year, scheduled for August 14-16, 2026. Since its inception in 2018, the festival has become an essential platform for showcasing powerful new plays that uplift and challenge audiences. This year, the festival is produced in partnership with the That’s What She Said Women’s Writers Collective, emphasizing its ongoing mission to highlight diverse female voices and bold storytelling from playwrights across the country.

The festival will present three compelling new works, each offering unique narratives and genres. The lineup includes:

“Symbiotic” by Baylee Shlichtman: Set against the backdrop of the Russo-Ukrainian war, this poignant play follows an aquarist at the Jellyfish Museum in Kyiv who seeks to keep the memory of a lost friend alive. An unexpected bond forms between her and a veteran who frequents the museum, ultimately altering the course of both their lives.

“Vignettes from a Portal to Hell” by Dana Hammer: This intriguing play explores the consequences of a portal to Hell that opens in the backyard of an agoraphobic woman, drawing in townspeople who come with their own motivations and reactions.

“The End of Sex (or What’s Wrong with Mom)” by Gay Walch: This thought-provoking piece delves into the complexities of consent and tradition in heteronormative relationships, questioning how consensual sex can truly be when longstanding societal norms prioritize male pleasure.

The performance schedule is as follows:

– Friday, August 14 at 8:00 pm: “Symbiotic“
– Saturday, August 15 at 8:00 pm: “Vignettes from a Portal to Hell“
– Sunday, August 16 at 3:00 pm: “The End of Sex (or What’s Wrong with Mom)“
