Alley Kerr, a professional dancer and Chapman University alum, performed alongside the popular online streamer IShowSpeed in the FIFA World Cup closing ceremony on Sunday.
The final matchup of the tournament took place at the New York New Jersey Stadium, where Spain and Argentina faced each other. Spain brought home the coveted trophy after a 1-0 win in extra time.
The closing ceremony featured global superstars from Tom Cruise to Nicole Scherzinger to celebrate before the kick-off.
Kerr performed ahead of the match with IShowSpeed to his hit 2026 soccer anthem “World Cup (Champions).”
Kerr spoke with NBC Los Angeles about her experience performing in such a major event.
“It’s been a whirlwind because it’s actually been a very short process,” Kerr said. “We only practiced for six days.”
Kerr told NBCLA that the team of dancers learned the choreography in just one day, began practicing at a local high school’s football field and then went to the New York New Jersey Stadium.
“There was something new and interesting going on at all times,” Kerr said.
From the dancers to the crew members, Kerr said she was one of the hundreds of people who made the performance come to life.
She added that the experience was one she never thought she would have.
“I feel like the World Cup in general has been such a unifying element in the past month,” Kerr said. “Being able to be a part of that in itself has just been really amazing.”
