(KRON)– An Oakland man has been arrested and charged after the Oakland Police Department (OPD) says he robbed the same bank two separate times this month.
The first robbery occurred on July 9 around 9:15 a.m. at the Wells Fargo bank at 901 Franklin Street downtown, prosecutors said. OPD says the man walked into the bank and held an employee at knife-point while demanding money. Employees met his demands, giving an unknown amount of money to the man.
The second bank robbery happened on July 15, according to OPD.

After looking through security footage and evidence, investigators determined that the man was the same person and identified the suspect as Oakland resident Michael Savage.
On July 17, officers arrested him, charging him with robbery, false imprisonment, and violation of probation. On Monday, July 20, Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced that felony charges were filed against Savage.
“These were brazen robberies that terrorized bank employees and customers, and left innocent people in fear for their lives,” said Dickson.
Savage is set to be arraigned on July 21.
