A free event scheduled for Saturday in Bakersfield will offer workshops and informational resources for people considering buying a home.
A community development financial institution called My Way home (formerly the Ventura County Community Development Corp.) will host the third annual event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court.
Organizers say the event will demystify the process of buying a home and create a pathway to homeownership. A news release says attendees will be able to view exhibits and have a chance to be pre-qualified for downpayment assistance during the event.
A free lunch and activities for children are planned.
