SW Bakersfield DMV shuts down July 24 for renovations, closed until November 2

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Drivers who rely on the Southwest Bakersfield DMV will need to make other plans starting this weekend.

The DMV office on Schirra Court will close for renovations starting Friday night, July 24. The project includes new flooring, fresh paint, updated furniture, new signs and a resurfaced parking lot.

The office is not expected to reopen until November 2, 2026.

Until then, customers can visit Bakersfield’s other DMV location on F Street or use offices in Arvin, Delano or Taft.

The DMV also said vehicle registration renewals and many other tasks can be completed online.
