BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The city of Ridgecrest is seeking a bigger role in the review of a proposed data center planned for nearby Inyokern.

During last week’s city council meeting, city leaders moved forward with filing for “intervener status” with the California Energy Commission. If approved, officials said the designation would allow the city to participate in the review process.

City officials emphasized the move is not the city taking a stance on the project, but a way to ensure Ridgecrest has a seat at the table as the proposal is evaluated.
