A juvenile driver who was racing another vehicle lost control, crashed into a traffic control box and overturned the vehicle near the Long Beach Airport, authorities said Saturday.
The crash occurred at 11:51 p.m. Friday at Spring Street and Kilroy Airport Way, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the overturned vehicle had been traveling eastbound Spring Street racing a second vehicle before the driver lost control,” police said. “The other vehicle did not remain on scene.”
The name, gender and age of the juvenile was not released.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics took the juvenile driver to a hospital for treatment of injuries not believed life-threatening, police said.
The investigation was ongoing.
