BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Highway 99 that left a passenger with major injuries and led to a driver’s arrest.
CHP says officers responded to a crash on Highway 99 between a Dodge pickup truck and a freightliner on Monday, July 20, at 3:49 p.m.
Officers say the Dodge truck was headed southbound on Highway 99 while towing a utility trailer.
The freightliner was parked on the west shoulder when the Dodge veered into the shoulder and struck it.
The Dodge was wedged under the freightliner, trapping the passenger inside.
Emergency personal removed the passenger and took them to a local hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the Dodge was arrested for felony D.U.I. and taken to a hospital for medical clearance.
They were then booked into the Kern County Jail.
No one inside the freightliner was injured.
