Temperatures will warm slightly later this week, but no 100s are in the 7-day forecast.
Wednesday forecast
After Sacramento hit 101 degrees yesterday, a much cooler day is settling in across the region this Wednesday.
It’s a warm and muggy morning to start, but a strong return of the Delta breeze will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures by this afternoon.
Across the Valley, many areas will see temperatures run 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Tuesday.
Delta Breeze returns
The Delta Breeze will pick up after noon this afternoon, and the coolest spots near the Delta will stay in the upper 80s, while areas farther inland should reach the low to mid 90s.
Quieter in our mountains
The Sierra will also quiet down as recent storm activity shifts east.
That means a calmer day in the mountains with just a couple of lingering showers in the eastern slope south of Tahoe.

Looking ahead, the rest of the week is shaping up to be pleasant for late July, with Valley temperatures slowly warming again by the end of the week.

The weekend is expected to be sunny and seasonably hot, with Valley highs returning to the mid 90s.
