SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — One person was killed in a house fire Wednesday morning in San Jose’s Windmill Springs neighborhood, according to officials.
The San Jose Fire Department responded at 4:31 a.m. to 1287 Sylvia Drive on the report of a fire at a single-family home. One fatality was confirmed by fire officials. Another person was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries, SJFD said.
Three adults and two dogs were displaced by the fire.
Firefighters knocked down the fire by 5:13 a.m., according to SJFD. The blaze was contained to the single residence and did not extend to nearby structures.
Traffic in the area remains impacted by the response as of 7 a.m.
The American Red Cross is assisting with the displaced residents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, SJFD said.
