Openings

Elysian Valley—Lumen Coffee and  Karmir Film Lab held a grand opening last weekend for their shared space at 1809 Blake Avenue. Both companies are rooted in Yerevan, Armenia. Lumen Coffee, founded by Shant Ghazar and  Artur Lumen Gevorgyan, expanded to the U.S. first, opening up a small shop in Highland Park in 2024. Beyond offering coffee and film development, Karmir-Lumen will also serve as an exhibition space. 

El Sereno—Birria popup Birria pa la Cruda Taqueria is opening a storefront in Fall 2026 on Alhambra Ave., according to neighbor Holy Grounds Coffee.

New On The Menu

Atwater Village—Normal Club is bringing their soft serve back to Wine and Eggs on Sunday, July 26 along with Esprizio to offer a summer spin on an affogato from 1 p.m. for 4 p.m.

Echo Park—Henrietta’s is offering a new monthly “thing” (their word choice)—a five-course tasting menu centered around farmers’ market ingredients and a little goodie bag to take home in collaboration with Chef’s Table and AirBnB Experiences. Tickets start at $95 per person and seem to be on the last Monday of each month.

Specials

Historic Filipinotown—If you miss Pearl River Deli’s pork chop and bun, Rasarumah is bringing it back for one night only for dine-in or takeout on Thursday, July 30. Pair it with strawberry shortcake bolo or pandan tres leches from Snacks by Largwa as a sweet treat.

Highland Park—Loreto is visiting Wildcrust for a one-night-only collaboration of bluefin tuna pizza and scallop tostadas on Thursday, July 30.

More Service

Atwater Village—Proof Bakery is starting a night service on July 31 at 5 p.m. with pies, warm beverages and more.

Silver Lake—Amiguita is starting lunch service at noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

Etc.

Elysian Valley—Night Market and live music producer Micah’s Night Market is celebrating their one-year anniversary at Spoke Bicycle Cafe on Friday, July 24 with wine, light bites and live music from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Elysian Valley—Celebrate one year of 10 Speed Coffee’s Frogtown location on Sunday, July 26 from noon to 4 p.m. with live portraits, vinyl music, pizza and free drinks for the first 100 patrons.
