Maine (WABI) – A federal grand jury in the District of Maine returned a six-count indictment Thursday charging a California man with sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and wire fraud.
Court documents say Shawn Bonneau, 40, compelled three adult women to perform commercial sex acts in Maine and elsewhere between January 2016 and December 2023 for financial gain. Records also say he used email to fraudulently obtain money from another person during the same time period.
Potential sentence
If convicted, Bonneau faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and up to life.
