BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The City of Bakersfield was awarded more than $14 million in state funding toward the Ramkabir Permanent Housing Project.

The project is to address homelessness.

The City said a 38-room converted motel will include 15 units reserved specifically for veterans at risk of or experiencing homelessness with behavioral health challenges.

The project will be at 901 Union Avenue.

The City said it is a partnership with Community Action Partnership of Kern.

The City of Bakersfield said the funding for this project was part of a nearly $110 million Prop 1-funded Homekey+ investment announced by the Governor’s office on Thursday.
