Looking for things to do this weekend? Here’s a list of activities in Northern California from July 25-26.
Sacramento County
Road Stars Country Music Festival
Up and coming country artists will perform at the biggest country music western festival in Rancho Cordova on July 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Hagan Park. With more than a dozen acts, a chili cook off, a petting zoo and over 20 different food vendors, there is something for everyone of all ages.

The Village Culturefest
The Village by the River will celebrate two years of business with Village Culturefest on July 25 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. With activities such as hayrides, goat feeding and dancing horse performances and various cultural cuisines available such as Mexican, Hawaiian and East African barbecue, the day is packed with summertime fun and cultural significance.

Black Cowboys Parade and Festival
Rancho Cordova will host the fifth annual Black Cowboy Parade and Festival on July 26. Beginning at 11 a.m., the parade will trek from Coloma at Rancho Cordova High School into Hagan Park. The festival will begin at noon and run until six p.m. Fun and education are at the center of this festival with a petting zoo, opportunities to learn about agriculture, and performances by artists such as Lakeside, Jeter Jones Tina B and more.

Elk Grove Strauss Festival
The Strauss Festival is back for their 37th year. From July 23-July 26, enjoy dance performances, vendors, dance workshops and fireworks. The festival is open from 7:30 p.m to 10 p.m. and is free to attend. There is a parking charge of less than $10.

CA State Fair
The California State Fair runs from July 17 through August 2. Hours of operation for Friday-Sunday are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. July 25 is Pride Day at the fair and will host the corn dog eating contest finals. July 26 is just as exciting with the youth mariachi competition and a floral arranging competition.

Tickets are available online or in person at the Cal Expo Box Office. There are no fees at the Box Office.
Courtland Pear Fair
The annual Courtland Pear Fair is returning for its 52nd year on July 26 from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Various activities such as pancake breakfasts, youth duck calling contests, pear pie eating contests, live music, a car show, arts and crafts, rides and more can be found at the fair.
Admission is free and parking is $20 cash on site. More information and the full schedule of events can be found at their website.
Yolo County
Midnight Mass
The Sacramento Poor Boys Car Club will host their annual automotive swap meet on July 25 from noon to midnight at the Yolo County Fairgrounds. With over 50 vendors, a variety of food, drink and products can be found. There will also be live performances by artists such as Cash Prophets, The Hellbillys, The Emery Villains and more.
Spectator admission is $20 cash at the gate and kids 12 years old and under can enter for free. Additional information about admission can be found here.
Capay Tomato Festival
The 20th annual Capay Tomato Festival is here. On July 25 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Capay Organic Farm, enjoy live music, heirloom tomato tasting, camping in the orchard, local beer and wine as well as various kid activities.
Admission is free and does not require an RSVP.
Stanislaus County
BBQ and Brew Summer Block Party
Summer isn’t over yet. Food Fix Butcher and Baker will host a BBQ and Brew Summer Block party in Modesto on July 25 from 11 a.m. to eight p.m. Artisan foods, specialty products, jewelry, candles and more can be found at the vendor fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Live music from artists such as JAKE, Stephanie Baker and DJ Mustache Bandito as well as kids activities with the Modest Children’s Museum and a special display of classic cars from the Graffiti USA Classic Car Museum and Car Sales private collection can also be found at the block party.

Hadestown: The Musical
Written by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, the modern musical reimagines the love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and King Hades and Queen Persephone. Featuring the original Broadway cast, the musical combines folk music and New Orleans jazz to tell its tale. The live stage recording is playing in movie theaters for a limited five day release from July 24-July 28.
