BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly going inside a business, physically assaulting an elderly woman, and then sexually assaulting her in Mojave.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on July 22, 2026, deputies of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Mojave and Rosamond substations responded to a sexual assault investigation in Mojave.
KCSO said during the investigation, deputies learned that a man went inside a business where he allegedly physically assaulted a 70-year-old woman before sexually assaulting her.
Deputies reviewed video surveillance and were able to identify the suspect in this assault as 34-year-old Shamari Taylor.
KCSO said about two hours later, deputies found and detained Taylor, who was subsequently booked at the Lerdo facility for charges related to the assault and sexual assault and is being held without bail pending court.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for several injuries and later released.
