BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in a cold case involving 64-year-old Ada Beth Kaplan Moore, who was found dead in a grape vineyard near Mettler back in 2011.

Detectives are seeking information from anyone who knew Ada Moore, who lived in Santa Clarita.
In a release, it said, “Even seemingly minor details about her life, relationships, employment, routines, or acquaintances may provide valuable investigative leads.”

The coroner’s office said in July 2020, the coroner’s office made the decision to seek a genealogy profile to help identify the initial Jane Doe 2011 with the help of the DNA Doe Project. The DNA Doe Project began building a family tree based on the genetic profile created. According to the coroner’s report, in July 2023, the DNA Doe Project identified two potential family members who lived on the East Coast. They agreed to provide a DNA specimen for comparison. Ada Beth Kaplan Moore was then identified.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to seeking justice for victims and their families. “Your information, no matter how small it may seem, could make a critical difference in this investigation,” said in a release.
