A vehicle fire spread to nearby vegetation along northbound Interstate 680 in Pleasanton on Friday afternoon, burning about 10 acres before firefighters stopped its advance, authorities said.

The fire began around 3:25 p.m. near I-680 and Sunol Boulevard, according to Cal Fire. Crews halted its forward progress by 4:53 p.m.

The Alameda County Fire Department said the flames spread from a burning vehicle into surrounding vegetation. Cal Fire continued to list the fire’s cause as under investigation Friday evening.
