SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Adult Swim fans at San Diego Comic-Con were among the first-ever to see the first episode of “President Curtis” shown exclusively at the Friday panel and at the Adult Swim free outdoor activation on the waterfront to a packed crowd.
Fans at the Adult Swim activation behind the San Diego Convention Center got to see live table readings Friday night with the cast of the upcoming “President Curtis” show that premieres Sunday night.
The cast of Rick and Morty followed with a live table reading ahead of the exclusive first-look of the new “President Curtis” show to a packed, cheering crowd.
During the exclusive preview of the first episode, which depicts him as a “cool” president, fans got a look at what to expect from the “Rick and Morty” spinoff, announced at last year’s Comic-Con.
“President Curtis” is based on the character that has appeared in previous “Rick and Morty” episodes, voiced by Keith David.

The sneak peek at the first episode shows the president and his advisors as they go to the center of “Hollow Earth” looking for more energy to solve an energy crisis, but stumble upon an energy source that brings them more trouble than good.
The animated adult comedy’s first episode is sci-fi themed with an “Avatar” spin, and meshes the power of the presidency with comedy.

“President Curtis” premieres on Adult Swim Sunday at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim, airing right after the season 9 finale of “Rick and Morty.”
