Fire damages Oakland home; investigation underway

Investigators with the Office of State Fire Marshal are investigating a residential fire that damaged a home on Libby Hill Road early Sunday morning.

The Oakland Fire Department requested assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office after the fire at 87 Libby Hill Road around 1 a.m.

Officials said initial observations indicate the fire originated in a juvenile’s bedroom and caused significant damage to the home’s second floor.

Five children and two adults were inside the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The investigation into the fire’s origin and cause remains active. Officials said additional information will be released once the investigation is complete.
