Today we’d like to introduce you to Aiden Lee.
Hi Aiden, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Aiden and I live in LA with my 3 Pembroke Welsh Corgis – Geordi (13), Scotty (6), and Lana (2).
I started @lacorgi in way back in 2013, even before the word “influencer” existed. Geordi was one of the first faces of the breed on the platform. I had no purpose for the account other than just sharing cute pics of my dog with the internet.
But as our audience continued to grow, the more I realized I had an actual platform. And I didn’t want to waste it just posting pictures. I started using our account to talk about responsible pet ownership and what separates ethical breeding from a backyard breeder or a puppy mill — the stuff most new owners never get told until it’s too late.
Agility is what changed things for me personally. Training with Geordi taught me how to actually read dog body language, how to communicate with my dog, and (especially important with a herding breed) how much a corgi needs a job to be a well-adjusted pet. It made me a better handler and a better owner at the same time.
That interest pulled me into conformation, and the pack grew alongside it: Scotty joined in 2020, Lana in 2024.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, yes and no. The dogs and my mission have never been the hard part. But running an account alongside a full-time creative director job is. Ad agency work doesn’t leave a lot of slack, and content doesn’t make itself. There’s always a gap between the content I want to be making and what I actually have time to shoot & edit after a full day of client work.
As our account has been around for 13 years, the platforms have shifted quite a bit and continue to evolve. And staying motivated enough to keep up with the algorithm changes on top of a day job is genuinely draining some weeks.
But when I get messages from people who lets us know that our account made a positive impact on their lives, it makes it all worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I do professionally:
I came up through big-agency advertising — Ogilvy, TBWA\Chiat\Day, McCann, FCB. I’m currently at Scout House, working as a Creative Director in the XR/AI space with platform clients like Meta, Snap, and Google.
What our account is all about:
Most dog accounts are built for entertainment, which is great, and there’s nothing wrong with that. @lacorgi (on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook) is a little different. It’s for people who want the cute corgi content but also want to learn more about Pembroke Welsh Corgis, dog training, responsible pet ownership, various dog sports, and ethical breeding.
How do you define success?
Success, to me, isn’t follower count or likes. That’s not the goal you want to be chasing, and it’s not what I measure against.
What actually matters is being the bridge between the millennial/Gen Z pet community and the dog sports world, which tends to be quite insular and inaccessible for newbies. Helping new people get into conformation, agility, herding — activities most of them didn’t know existed — has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve even had corgi owners stop me on the street to tell me they went to an ethical breeder because of something they learned from our account. Realizing that all the work we have put into @lacorgi for the past 13 years has made an impact gives me the motivation to keep it going.
